Monty the Fish Goes to the Zoo

Our Book Of The Week goes to "Monty the Fish Goes to the Zoo" By Vivienne Alonge

Monty was an idea. I had to occupy my children and their friends on a stormy day in Texas. Give them the latitude to discover their imagination. From there Monty came to life. A fish that behaves like a child, doing things that we love to do. Thanks to those youngsters, my thoughts went to what out of character other animals can do. So here we are with Monty going to the Zoo. I hope you enjoy.

Beautiful Monsters

Current and trendy, Beautiful Monsters is a high-octane romp of a read that could be lifted off the front page of any supermarket tabloid. Sometimes humorous, oftentimes heartbreaking, it ostensibly explores the grit and gristle, sizzle of modern romance—Hollywood style. And yet, with its overarching themes and complex characters, it runs much deeper than the glitz suggests. It's truly literary fiction masquerading as a contemporary romance. Do wealth, fame, and beauty bestow happiness? Is there a karmic aspect to obsessive love? Are we all beautiful monsters? And finally, how far would you go for love? Tag along with Riley Rinaldi and Keller Cross as they explore these concepts…and more!

  Book Blurb:
“Hell is empty and all the devils are here.” ~Shakespeare
Hollywood: Movie Capital of the World, La La Land, Tinseltown, Hollyweird, Gomorrah, Land of Broken Dreams…Hell.
Makeup artist Riley Rinaldi has it all: beauty, wealth, talent, and undeniable sex appeal. But besieged by her past and the very attributes so many envy, she lives a lonely life devoid of the one commodity she cannot grasp—love.
Against a backdrop of studio politics, fame, jealousy, and unrequited love, their white-hot chemistry explodes onto the film set, incinerating their former lives and exposing the unseemly underbelly of La La Land.
But does love stand a chance among the beautiful monsters?

Why You Need a Website

A website is an affordable and effective way to create a professional image for your book.  With so many people using the Internet for business, communication and purchasing decisions, some sort of online presence is essential for the success of your book.  More specifically, a website is an affordable way to promote and distribute books.  A website also creates a sense of legitimacy for a potential reader.

So where do you begin? What elements should a website have? Since your website could be your first interaction with a potential reader, you will need to determine what information a reader needs to have before they make a purchasing decision.  Even a basic five or six page website can accomplish this task if you take the time to tailor your message to your readers.
Some of the most important elements to your website will be your book cover, a book description, an author biography, author photo, contact information and any links to where your book can be purchased online.  You can even go a step further and list excerpts from your book.  This can help hook a potential reader and encourage them to purchase the book so that they can finish what they started reading.
Have you ever been to a website with so much information splattered on the page you don’t even feel like trying to find what you need?  The rate at which we share and consume information online has created this problem for many people.  For this reason, you’ll want to keep any text on your website brief, as most people do not spend very much time on any one website.  They want to quickly understand what your book is about, why it would be useful to them, and where they can buy it.  Keeping this in mind will give you the greatest chance at making a book sale to any website visitors.
You have options when it comes to creating a website.  You may choose to have Mill City Press create your website or have it developed on your own.  Either way it is important to build a web presence for your book.
If you want a professional website with hosting and maintaining services then you may contact to Joy Bhattacharje.

Tunnels In The Briar Patch (The Adventures of Roland McCray Book 1) [Kindle Edition]

These short stories, set in the 1960’s, are about a boy named Roland McCray. Roland’s adventures recall a simpler time when kids played for hours outdoors, instead of hours on video games. His mother took him to a Baptist church every Sunday, but it was his grandfather who taught him that real faith is not just for show; it is a quiet and unwavering belief that all things work for the good of those who seek good. Roland sees the moral lesson in everything he does and shares it with his friends. Roland’s childhood innocence and perceptive views are seen in vividly descriptive nostalgic parables that have a timeless and spiritual quality about them that allows the reader to experience the world he sees. Roland’s naivety and determination will strike a chord with adults and impart good morals in every child!

The Miracle Worker and the Transcendentalist

Anne Sullivan, Franklin Sanborn, and the Education of Helen Keller

Helen Keller and her famous teacher, Annie Sullivan, up to the present have consistently appeared near the top of lists of best-known American women. But few Americans know much about the history of how Anne Sullivan, once a pauper in a large Massachusetts poorhouse, came to her role as the “miracle worker” who taught the deaf and blind Helen Keller. Nor do most contemporaries know how controversial the education of Helen Keller by Annie Sullivan was in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Leading philanthropists, for example, attacked both Sullivan and Keller for more than twenty years. Portraying the contrasting lives of Sullivan and Franklin Benjamin Sanborn, the era’s prominent transcendentalist, abolitionist, and founder of many national organizations, this book sheds new light on the ethnic and religious tensions that haunted the notoriety of Sullivan and the gender and disability expectations that affected the public reception of both Sullivan and Keller. The book places into historical context the Anglo-Saxon reformers exemplified by Sanborn who, on the one hand, saved Sullivan from the poorhouse, but who ultimately could not accept Sullivan’s hero status. While highlighting the story of Sullivan, Keller, and Sanborn, Wagner also seeks to shed light on the Gilded Age and Progressive–Era America in which battles over class, ethnicity, gender, and disability were fought by both genteel—and by more belligerent—means.

Short Story Smash

What started as a fleeting thought turned into an idea, which turned into a New Year’s Resolution, which turned into a challenge, which turned into a collection of short stories. The only rule: to write one short story for each week in 2010.

Short Story Smash is more than a collection of short stories. It’s a fifty-two-week challenge into the creative expanses of one’s mind.
